FAQ about Cable Lugs
Sagro provides a wide range of cable lugs and splice connectors, including flat blade terminals, ring terminals, round pin connectors, splicing sleeves, and waterproof connectors. These are available in various sizes and color codes to match different cable dimensions and applications.
To select the correct component, first identify the cable’s cross-section (mm²) and the required connection type, such as flat blade, ring, or round pin. Color coding usually indicates the cable size: Red for 0.5–1.5 mm², Blue for 1.5–2.5 mm², and Yellow for 2.5–6.0 mm². It’s also important to consider whether an insulated or non-insulated version is needed and if the connection should be waterproof.
Insulated cable lugs have a protective plastic sleeve to prevent short circuits and shield against external impacts. Non-insulated cable lugs lack this protective covering and are commonly used where additional insulation is already in place or not required. The choice between insulated and non-insulated cable lugs depends on application requirements and environmental conditions.
To install a cable lug or splice connector correctly:
Strip an appropriate length of insulation from the cable without damaging the conductors.Insert the stripped wire into the cable lug or splice connector.
Crimp the connection securely using a cable crimping tool.
Ensure a tight and reliable connection by using the correct tools and technique.
