Finncont® expert opinion on the application of the exemption under section 1.1.3.1 C:
- Finncont® fuel tanks are UN/ADR type-approved and tested IBC containers. The Finncont® fuel tank is suitable for the permitted transport of diesel and motor fuel under all conditions. When transporting fuel for refuelling and maintenance of work machinery/equipment used for contracting or billable work, UN/ADR type-approved IBC containers must be used. In this case, the requirements for service life and inspection apply. If you fall under the exemption in section 1.1.3.1 C, for example for private use or when not performing billable work, the tank is not subject to the 2.5 / 2.5-year inspection requirement or the 10-year service life limit. A non-approved tank, even when new, has the same status as a Finncont tank after its 10-year service life has expired. It is not possible to have a non-approved tank inspected and approved for use in contracting or billable work.
TFG regulation 1.1.3.1 C – exemptions related to the nature of the transport operation:
- The transport of dangerous goods carried by companies in order to perform work involving measurements, repairs or maintenance is exempt from the regulations. The quantity limit per package, large packaging and IBC is 450 litres, and the total quantity of dangerous goods must not exceed the maximum permitted quantities specified in subsection 1.1.3.6. Leakage of the contents under normal transport conditions must be prevented. This exemption does not apply to substances in Class 7. The exemption cannot be applied by companies transporting dangerous goods for their own stockholding or for internal or external distribution. - Product groups
